FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT

FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT

WEX (Health & Dependent Care) & WageWorks (Parking & Transit)

How it Works

The money you set aside is never counted as income.  That means it is not subject to Federal Income Tax, Social Security, Medicare, and in most cases, state and local taxes.  This lowers your taxable income and increases your spendable income.  Depending on your tax situation, you could save 20-40% on expenses you would be paying anyway.

Health & Dependent Flexible Spending Account through WEX

You will receive a Healthcare Card

  • Use tax-free income to pay for your family’s predictable out-of-pocket medical expenses or dependent day care expenses

Transactions can only occur for the following:

  • Health FSA: Qualified medical services as defined by the IRS in section 213 (d)
  • Dependent Day Care: Qualified expenses include services that enable you (and your spouse if married) to be gainfully employed

IRS Contribution limits are

  • Health: $3,300 annually
  • Dependent Care: $5,000 annually
  • If you do not use your full elected amount by the end of the year, you will forfeit those funds (use it or lose it)
